Skiing Fun For All!

Well another week of WINTER, but it feels so good to wake up to more light and to come home after work with some as well! Makyah finally got her dance pictures this week.  It is funny as soon as I looked at them I thought they looked almost the same as last years.  Upon comparison, very similar but this years has more teeth!  As always they turned out pretty well.  She is so lucky to be photogenic, unlike her mom!
Here is the rest of her team.
The week went quickly as I was busy at work as always.  On Saturday the girls were invited to a family friend, Maddie's 5th Birthday.  It was at the Children's Museum and Makyah was thrilled that one of her classmates Marley was invited as well! Happy Birthday Maddie!
Makayh is getting so grown up!  She loves all techie things such as cell phones, computers and music on MP3 players. How did we get so lucky to have such a smart, kind and caring girl?  I guess it was the 10 months of crying we endured in the early days:)
On Saturday after the party we made an impromptu decision to take the girls down hill skiing.  We had been thinking about it for a while and were just thinking that the snow would be gone soon, so in 10 minutes we ran around the house, loaded the van, and headed up North to Christie Mountain in Bruce.  It was about an hour away and we
got there just in time for the night skiing.  Makyah had been skiing once before when she was 5, but this was Cambree's first time.  It took Kyah only a few minutes to get the hang of it and she was off without us. Cambree on the other hand had a hard time in the beginning being confident enough to try without sitting down right away.
Eventually she got a little braver and of course loved the tow rope and the chair lift.  Cal had her hang on to his poles most of the time, but she managed to make it down from the top of the mountain several times.  She also made it down the bunny hill many more!
The tow rope is so much fun!
Kind of blurry, but she was moving fast!
Cambree behind dad, trying to copy his snow plow!
Taking a break to warm up!
Going up the big chair lift...BURR!
I was impressed that the girls lasted four and a half hours! At the end of the night, both said they couldn't wait to go again.  It had been 10 plus years since I had been skiing and it was so much fun to be back on the slopes.  Cal only got to go down once by himself, but I could tell that he loved showing the girls how to ski.  After all, in our birthing class for Makyah, his dream for her was for her to be a professional down hill skier.  I told her that as we were riding up the hill, and she said, "Well I'm going to be a professional dancer, but I would like to ski a lot too"...  What more can we ask for:)  It was a great weekend and when we got home we decided to have a family sleepover in our bed!  I think everyone had a good nights rest, except me...I had no room to move! This is the times we will remember...right;0 Make sure you check out the videos below to see how much fun we had. (Yes I was skiing along side when taping, so kind of bumpy!)

Have a great week!  Hopefully Winter is heading out!  Love, The Lokkens
