Kyah & Cams: Return to the land of the living!

Well life is returning to somewhat "normal" in the Lokken house, as I have been sick for the past 10 days and have not accomplished a whole lot when it comes to pictures and what not. Last week we had conferences for both the girls. Makyah is a great student and her reading, fluency and comprehension is leveled at 3rd grade. She is a kind and helpful student and we are very proud of her. Cambree is doing great as well. Her teachers still say she is quiet and that she likes to observe first, but she has chosen great friends and is outgoing with them. The poor girls is probably so quiet all morning, that she comes home and is crazy for us. However we are very proud of her as she knows her shapes, colors, and alphabet.

The girls and I spent most of the weekend together as Cal had one of his curling tournaments. We went to the all day dance competition at North High School on Saturday, made some crafts for Valentine's Day and baked cookies. We used our friend Heather's special recipe, but somehow forgot the brown sugar. It came to me in the middle of the night that we skipped that step. They did turnout ok, but I guess they have half the sugar. On Sunday I made some Valentine treats for Cambree's daycare friends. She didn't help a whole lot, but was very proud to help put them together. I only broke about 5 needles and re-threaded about 50 times! I hate sewing, not so good for my back either. I went to the chiropractor and found out I have the start of arthritis on 3 vertebrates, so I guess the years of slouching have caught up with me!

Also on Saturday morning Cal woke up to a flat tire. He didn't notice right away, so he drove a block or so down the road on it. The results... a ripped up tire. We are hoping it wasn't slashed but won't be sure until we take it in today. If so, I am starting to think we live in the ghetto.
